Sailing the Seas as Servants of God–Miss Helen–May 31, 1982

Sailing Servant of God

This is from Miss Helen Wright’s diary 23, Monday, May 31, 1982:

Streams in the Desert, Vol. 1May 31:
‘There is a vast difference between the quality of old people who have lived flabbly, self-indulgent, useless lives, and the fiber of those who have sailed all seas and carried all cargoes as the servants of God and the helpers of their fellow men.”
‘Victor Hugo said after 80 years . . . “I am like a forest which has been more than once cut down. The new shoots are livelier than ever. I am rising toward the sky–Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart.” ‘ ”

Oh, let us not be self-indulgent and live useless lives–let us rise toward the Son and be faithful in whatever He asks of us!

After a very long and challenging year, I started back into giving my “Dirt” to God” Roseanne, and he jumped me directly to CD #3, where I needed to hear him. Thank you!

I saw the most interesting needlepoint sampler from 1929 with an inspiring message: “Let every rising hour bring a useful lesson on its wing.” The cross-stitched picture is of a three-masted schooner, named “Sovereign of the Seas.” O, Sovereign of … Continue reading
